Retro-Thursday Portrait.......

Hi Everybody...
I'm Baaaaaaaack!!!
Since I've been gone a couple of days, I think I'll give you a Two-Fer!
We didn't get a color TV until 1965, and not very many programs were in color back then. A TV-Guide was a must, and for some odd reason I still have several issues from that year.
I Dream Of Genie, (she couldn't show her bare navel)
Green Acres, (Arnold Ziffle was my Hero)
Peyton Place, (The first night time Soap, it was on Tuesday and Thursday)
I'll just name a few because I don't wanna be here all night, but lets see what was on the tube the night of May 5th of that year, say page.....FIFTY-FIVE?

YAY!!!!... Mr. Ed
Ohhhhh Wilber...
And don't forget what happens on Friday!
Peace...!!!

Did you put gauze over the lens so the old TV guide would look all youthful? :)

I used to like that show, and it wasn't until I got older that I realized it was actually a horribly sexist concept.

I remember our first T.V. I couldn't have been more than 4, 5 or 6 so it was about the very early 50s.

I remember that T.V. Guide and I Dream of Genie.....Lord what memories.....

Hi G_Man! Hope you enjoyed your break. I will be in Day Surgery on Friday for a cataract op. on the left eye, but have scheduled my 55'er to appear as usual.
All good wishes.

Most people try to document a family tree to get their history passed from generation to generation...dude you have stuff that you leave your scent on for them to follow you from youth to old man status.

TV Guides from 1965? I am ... speechless.:)

My parents bought a TV in 1963, black and white of course, and I didn't have a colour TV until 1972!

Thanks for the reminder I'm just doing my 55 now. :)

Don't forget about Pettycoat Junction.
Ever watched the TV show "Pickers"? They may be showing up on your door step with all this memorabilia you pull out. Where do you keep all this stuff?

old TV guides too?
i kinda miss
the innocence
of those older days,
when people weren't
so out of their minds...
when a horse was a horse,
and Jeannie had to
put a plug in it
so no one could see it...
kinda sweet, huh?
hope all is well
with the knowitall...
lana loves you
as always...xo

Hi G-Man,

Mine is up at:
http://rnsane.blogspot.com/2010/02/devil-went-down-to-georgia-flash-55.html

It's been a tough 9 days for me. I'm in Columbus, GA...arrived to find my 86-year-old mother in very bad shape. Took her to the doctor and found she'd had a stroke and a heart attack. She was hospitalized for a week and, yesterday, was discharged to an extended care facility in the Atlanta area near my brother's. I'm in Columbus till next Thursday, clearing out her apartment, etc. Very sad times!
